Beginning Archery I - The Basics*
Prerequisites: None.
Duration: 6 weeks at 1-hour for each class period
This session is designed to offer an environment in which the archer will learn
the very basics of archery. Students will use a recurve style bow, basic finger
tab, an arm guard and safety glasses. Lessons learned will be range safety, whistle
commands, the proper stance, draw and release of arrows starting at a 10-yard
distance. Different classes have been designed for children, combined parent/child,
and adults.
Beginning Archery II - Get a Grip*
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: Beginning Archery I.
Duration: 6 weeks at 1-hour for each class period
Building on the first session, this second session will expose the archer to the
finger sling, the stabilizer and the proper method of gripping the bow.
Additionally, the archer learns to combine pre-draw, draw, anchor and release
into one smooth motion with the goal of learning to be consistent in their shooting
form and with greater accuracy starting at a 10-yard distance and progressing to
15-yards.
Beginning Archery III - Seeing is Believing*
Prerequisites: Prerequisites: Beginning Archery I & II.
Duration: 6 weeks at 1-hour for each class period
During session III, the archer will be exposed to the "under-chin" release style of
shooting using a ledge-type tab and the use of a bow mounted sight. During this
third session, the archer will continue to develop proper form in the Olympic style
of competitive archery at a distance of 15-yards.
